These are the answers to our most commonly asked questions. We are happy to answer any other questions or concerns you may have and invite you to contact us for more information.

Are you accepting new clients?

We have very limited availability right now. We also understand how hard it is to find an experienced counselor that does not have a wait list a mile long. Please send us a message and we can discuss any options we may have.

Do you offer Christian counseling?

Infinite Grace Counseling and Wellness is a Christian counseling agency. We believe that spirituality is an important and often missed component in counseling. We love to include the spiritual aspect of healing for any of our clients that would like this as part of their journey. We also see many people who are either not comfortable with this or are not believers. Want us to pray with you? You got it! Feel like you would rather stay as far away from that kind of talk as possible? No worries, we can do that too. No matter where you fall on this spectrum, we are here for you and want to make your sessions as comfortable as possible.

What kind of clients do you see?

We primarily work with adults but also see teens on a case-by-case basis.

Our counselors have years of experience working with many different problems ranging anywhere from anxiety and rage to eating disorders and self-esteem issues. We can help you cope with grief, transition into different stages of life, or assist with family or relationship struggles. We can help you learn effective communication, identify unhealthy patterns of behavior in yourself or in those around you, and heal from the hurts of your past to become the best version of yourself possible.

We believe that everyone can benefit from the advantages of counseling even if your reasons for reaching out are related to day-to-day stress or just learning how to live with others who refuse to seek counseling for their own issues. Sometimes, just having a space to vent with someone who is unbiased and there to listen, understand, and show compassion can be life-changing. In our practice, it is always about you.

Do you take insurance?

This is the question we are asked most often. We do not accept insurance. With many health insurance plans, if you have coverage, your co-pay and deductible are often more than the entire cost of treatment. Most plans also do not cover marriage and family counseling. In addition, before your insurance company will cover any part of your treatment, you would need to be diagnosed with a mental disorder or mental health issue. This information goes on your medical record and insurance companies can even request copies of your treatment plan which is confidential information that we feel others should not have access to. Giving you a diagnosis for the sake of insurance is also unethical as many clients do not have diagnosable issues. They simply need someone to talk to for a short period of time. By not using insurance, you have complete control over your privacy. You get access to experienced counselors who are only focused on you and your care. Many clients also find that seeing a counselor who accepts their insurance is more costly than paying for our services.

What should I expect when I make an appointment?

When you call to make an appointment, we will ask you for your email address to email you our paperwork that can all be completed online. During your first session, your counselor will ask questions and get more information about your background, your concerns, and will discuss goals and a plan for treatment. You can expect the first visit to last about an hour and all other individual appointments to last about 45-55 minutes. Typically, clients see their counselor on a weekly basis until their goals are met. Regular appointments are essential for lasting change and each person progresses at his or her own pace. Many people begin to notice the benefits of counseling after their first couple sessions.

How do you protect my privacy?

Your right to privacy is governed by legal and ethical guidelines.  Generally, the information you share with your counselor is not shared with anyone else without your expressed written permission.  Confidentiality is broken when you are a threat to yourself (suicide) or are at risk of serious harm to someone else. It will also be broken if we are made aware of child or elder abuse or when subpoenaed by a court of law. In each case, we are required by law to report to the proper authorities and release certain information.  We can discuss in detail each of these instances at your request.

When working with couples who have both individual and couples sessions, confidentiality is maintained during individual sessions unless we discuss certain topics that you want disclosed to your partner or if your counselor feels certain topics need to be discussed to reach therapeutic goals. In either case, your counselor will talk to you in great lengths about this before it happens so you never have to worry. We want your sessions to be a safe place to share and express how you feel without the added concern of your privacy in this process.

How does telehealth work?

Counseling can happen through telehealth in a few different ways. The majority of our clients have their sessions through video. If you choose video sessions, we will send you a Zoom link that you will use for all of your sessions. We are happy to walk you through the process of setting this up and can offer different video platforms to use if necessary. We also offer sessions through telephone calls or text messages if you prefer not to use video.

In all cases, it is essential that you have a quiet place to talk away from others to ensure confidentiality. We often recommend clients drive and park somewhere to have sessions from their car, away from home if there are others at home during their session. We want you to be able to speak freely and without distractions whenever possible.

*You also have direct access to your counselor between sessions. Please note, unless you have an appointment scheduled, we will do our best to respond to messages and texts within 24 hours. While we often are able to respond much quicker, we cannot guarantee availability. Calls and messages in excess may be subject to additional charges that will be discussed if necessary. Please contact us for more information about our messaging policy.
